RAMADAN GIST – DAY 25: On Connecting the Dots – What to Walk Away With
By Amatul Qafaar
Alhamdullailah, today is the 25th day of Ramadan and we have covered 24 articles in our series Ramadan Gist. Almost bidding farewell to the month of blessings and mercy, we all tend to throw the Ramadanic lifestyle out of the window upon its ending.
We have said so many times that Ramadan is nothing but a boot camp and no one goes through a boot camp only to get trained and live as if he/she never had a training, the point to strengthen our capacity to not only strive outside Ramadan but to thrive since we have done thirty days of following strict rules that are meant to help straighten our lines.
We have covered so many points, from how to look at food from another to going to I’tikaaf and paying extra attention to grab the easy access of getting 1000 months’ worth worship in basically 10 hours one night.
And this is a reminder that without the big ‘fasting’ every day for thirty days challenge, we need to walk away with habits that last life time. I will try to break down every thing we have covered down, and will try to make one amazing and blessed day out of all of them.
Start the day early
We all get used to getting up way earlier than any other for suhoor and it is much easier because of the fact that families are all up, we wake up for getting the barakah from the suhoor and we get little bit of time for praying extra units and we get the whole time we are up to remember Allah and ask for forgiveness while we are may be preparing our suhoor or eating it.
Try to not let this go after Ramadan and do get up earlier than Fajr, you don’t need to get busy with suhoor, you will have to take advantage of all that time and be among those slaves who Allah said about “And in the hours before dawn they would ask forgiveness”.
Mind what you put your mouth in
You are not required to fast all year long so since you are not going to fast from the food and to keep the good vibes of Ramadan on, you need to mind what you are putting your mouth in and to fast from all those foods that can do harm to you. Go back to our article on
Food: From another angle, in sha Allah.
I will leave you with those two steps of the day and in the next article we will, God willing, look into the other steps.
May we be guided to the straight path during and after Ramadan, Ameen.
Wa salaamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullah
